The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a devastating toll on the Canadian economy, workers and families and laid bare the inequities and deficiencies of Canada’s income security system, specifically our Employment Insurance (EI) program.
Special COVID relief measures, delivered to millions of laid off workers, during this pandemic filled the void left by an unprepared and inaccessible EI program. Temporary improvements to EI over the course of the pandemic are simply not enough. Workers must take this as a lesson to strive for better, permanent EI reforms for all.
Join Unifor leadership, staff and activists as we launch an EI Reform Campaign to advocate for a more inclusive, equitable and resilient Employment Insurance program for workers in Canada.
