Unifor Local 2000 members at the Penticton Herald and Kelowna Daily Courier ratified new collective agreements at their respective newspapers.  The results of the votes were as follows:

Daily Courier Press                 62.5%
Daily Courier Drivers               100%
Daily Courier Office                89%
“It was long process in getting this agreement done. I want to thank the bargaining committee for their patience, dedication and hard work,” said Brian Gibson, President of Unifor Local 2000.
Some highlights of the deal include mailroom scheduling language and press scheduling in light of the recent announcement that the papers were moving to five days a week.  Daily Courier Delivery Drivers secured improved pay and working conditions.  For the remainder of the agreement, members will receive a signing bonus, a 1% increase this year, and a 1% increase next year, with the contract expiring on May 31, 2021.
