Unifor news release – July 15, 2021 – 9:15 AM

Unifor and its Local 87-M have negotiated a first contract at the National Post, where journalists at Postmedia’s flagship newspaper voted to join the union last fall.

“We are pleased to welcome the National Post to the Unifor family. Unifor now represents the journalists at every daily newspaper in Toronto and at Canada’s two national papers,” said Unifor National President Jerry Dias.

Details of the tentative collective agreement for 42 reporters, editors and other staff will be released following a ratification vote Monday evening.

Post journalists voted last October to join Unifor. Negotiations for a first collective agreement began shortly after.

“We are able to reach this new deal thanks to the hard work of the bargaining committee and the support of the members,” said Unifor National Representative Howard Law, who assisted the negotiations.
