The CEP Local 2000 Annual Congress is a meeting of members from all 6 councils of the Local held annually in the fall. The delegates form committees to deal with resolutions and policy that effect the Local and the membership. Local President Mike Bocking, who opens with a ‘state of the union’ address to delegates, chairs the Congress. CEP national and regional representatives will also be attending.
There is a banquet dinner on the Saturday evening and delegates are invited to bring a guest at no cost. All meals are provided for delegates during the weekend and the Local pays parking and other expenses incurred by delegates as set out in CEP Local 2000 Policies. The Local pays for delegates to stay Saturday night at the Holiday Inn on Howe Street, where the Congress takes place.
The Local will remunerate delegates for any lost wage and benefit entitlements if the delegate would normally be scheduled to work that weekend.
Delegate entitlement is based on the number of members in each council and The Lower Mainland Community Newspaper Council is entitled to 10 delegates. At the last council general membership meeting, 7 delegates were acclaimed and there are 3 delegate positions remaining to be filled.
