Dear PNG Members,
The Company issued Section 54 Notice under the BC Labour Code and Article 7: Security of Employment, giving 60 days’ notice of its intent to layoff members in the Editorial Department. They indicate they are looking to layoff seven (7) positions in Editorial. Under the code the Company is required to meet with the Union to discuss ways in which to limit the impact of the changes being proposed.
During this time if management approaches you to ask if you would like to take a voluntary “severance”, we ask that you not participate in this process at this time. We will notify you if a possible opportunity to volunteer is available.
We have yet to set dates to meet with the Company but they will most likely occur next week. We will update you as we get more information.
