A statement from Unifor national secretary-treasurer Lana Payne:

Dear Unifor members:
Many of you have reached out to tell me about your hopes for our union coming out of these very difficult times.
I want you to know, I have heard you.
You have expressed your confidence in my leadership. You have encouraged me and voiced your solidarity with me.
You have also asked me many times what the future holds and today I am ready to answer.
I will be seeking your support to become the next National President of Unifor.
These past months have been difficult, but they have also given me a new sense of resolve about the future of our union and the kind of leadership we will need to redress the hurt, rebuild trust, and build the hope and confidence we will need to take on the many fights ahead.
Like all of you, I love this union with all my heart. And my heart is full with the possibilities of what we can build into the future when we are guided by our trade union principles of democracy, transparency, accountability and solidarity.
We have so much to do.
Let’s move forward, together.
All my love and solidarity
Lana
