Secretary-Treasurer Jennifer Moreau sent this email out to members on Tuesday:

It’s with mixed emotions I write this notice to you all. My last day with Local 2000 will be Friday, as I’ve accepted a job with Unifor as a National Representative, effective Nov. 28, 2022.
It’s an incredible opportunity, but one that will take me away from serving my home base: Local 2000. I started about nine years ago as a shop steward, when I was working as a reporter at the Burnaby NOW. I became vice-president of the local, then was elected to a fulltime position of secretary-treasurer. I’ve also served on the Unifor’s media council, representing more than 11,000 media workers across the country, and on Unifor’s National Executive Board for the past year.

It’s been a wild ride, and I will miss you all, but I’m confidently leaving you in the hands of Brian Gibson, our fearless leader and president. He will be taking over my files in the interim. He can be reached at [email protected].

Thank you to all the Local 2000 executive members and shop stewards. I have LOVED working with you all to build grassroots worker power, especially at Purdy’s, where the leadership never ceases to amaze me 🙂

Please remember, this is your union, and we need more members to be active. There are tons of opportunities to get involved, and there is a lot more exciting work to do! Reach out to Brian for more details.

In solidarity, always,

Jennifer Moreau
Secretary-treasurer (for three more days) of Unifor Local 2000
