B.C.’s Employment Standards Branch is reviewing a third-party complaint against the Vancouver animation studio behind the hit feature Sausage Party.

The complaint by the media union Unifor Local 2000 alleges that the non-union Nitrogen Studios forced animators on the film to work without paying overtime.

“At this time we can only confirm that the Employment Standards Branch has received a complaint regarding Nitrogen Studios Canada Inc.,” read a statement from the provincial labour ministry. “The director of the Employment Standards Branch is mandated to accept and review all complaints.”
