Union members at the Burnaby NOW/New Westminster Record voted 86% in favour of accepting a new contract with Glacier Media on Feb. 25. The 39-month deal sees wages increase by 4% over three years: 1.5% in the first year, and 1.25% in the second and third years. Gains include improved language covering editorial jurisdiction for web content and commissions on digital sales. The deal came following a strike vote supported by 94% of the members. Kudos to the bargaining committee, from left: Burnaby NOW reporter Cayley Dobie, National Rep Peter McQuade, Local 2000 Vice-President Garth Oswald, and receptionist Sheila Wong.
