Postmedia has offered a Voluntary Buyout Offer (VBO) with the intention of reducing their workforce and slashing cost. The Union’s position is this VBO is invalid. Postmedia is not permitted to negotiate individual agreements with members, they must consult your Union. As most of you know during negotiations last year the Union and Company had discussions and agreed to a VBO Program, which is included in the new agreement. The offer presented by Postmedia by email to members on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 has modified the offer in the VBO Program without consultation or agreement with your Union. The Company informed us what it was doing without involving the Union in the negotiations of this offer’s terms.
